MINSK, 14 April (BelTA) - Kanan Guluzade, Advisor to the Chairman of the State Tourism Agency of Azerbaijan, shared his thoughts on what Belarusians and Azerbaijanis have in common in their culture of welcoming guests in an interview with the First News TV Channel, BelTA has learned.
He noted that tourists would be interested in seeing new areas of cooperation between Belarus and Azerbaijan. “People in both our country and yours are warm-hearted and love receiving guests. This is an important factor for tourism development. What nature and geography provide are good advantages, but the main thing in tourism is hospitality: the people who welcome and serve visitors. In this, your people and ours are very similar,” he said.
According to Kanan Guluzade, there is a desire to expand the range of products in mutual trade between Belarus and Azerbaijan.
In addition, negotiations are underway with Belarusian official bodies and tour operators to increase mutual tourist flows. “There are certain developments and prospects that we want to expand, including the number of flights between our countries and the flow of tourists,” the expert said.
In his view, the interests of Belarusian tourists visiting Azerbaijan are changing. “Previously, these were traditional trips, mainly related to cultural, wellness, and gastronomic tourism. Belarusians often come to our Naftalan resort, known for its therapeutic oil. Now the tourist profile is different: more young people, weekend trips, shopping in Baku, and so on. Azerbaijanis also travel to your country. There are no barriers between us: neither visa nor language barriers. For the most part, these are cultural, wellness, and medical tourism trips. But the potential is far from exhausted. Of course, we are working to increase the mutual flow. Both countries have the potential and the desire to do so,” he emphasized.
