MOSCOW, 27 October (BelTA) - The sixth legal information reference center of Belarus abroad will be opened in Russia's Khabarovsk, Director of the Belarusian National Center of Legal Information Evgeny Kovalenko said at the roundtable which took place in the legal information reference center at the business and cultural center of the Belarusian Embassy in Russia, BelTA learned from the press service of the diplomatic mission.
Evgeny Kovalenko noted that there are five such centers abroad. The first one was opened at the business and cultural center at the Belarusian Embassy in Russia. Another one was set up at Tvardovsky Smolensk Regional Library in 2016. “We are planning to open the legal information reference center in Khabarovsk soon, Evgeny Kovalenko said.
Addressing the participants of the roundtable, Minister Counselor of the Embassy of Belarus in Russia Yuri Yaroshevich recalled that Belarus' legal information reference center opened in Moscow exactly two years ago. “It is gratifying to note that our expectations for the legal information reference centers have completely justified and their services are high in demand," the diplomat said. According to him, the most active users are students and undergraduates.
The roundtable discussed the current issues related to the activity of the legal information reference centers of Belarus and Russia. “The exchange of views showed that there is a considerable potential of the Belarusian-Russian cooperation in the use of information and legal resources in scientific and educational activities, in ensuring the availability of legislation, and raising the level of legal awareness,” the press service noted.
The event was attended by representatives of the Russian Federal Protective Service and cultural institutions which operate the public legal information centers, the higher education institutions training legal specialists, the government and other organizations that distribute legal information.
