"On Point"
MINSK, 6 January (BelTA) – By attacking Venezuela and abducting President Nicolás Maduro, the United States demonstrated that any regime it finds undesirable can become a target, national security expert Aleksandr Tishchenko said in a new episode of the V Teme [On Point] project on BelTA’s YouTube channel.
The expert observed that European leaders’ reactions to the U.S. operation in Venezuela and the kidnapping of its president varied. “But in all their statements, no matter how different they are, one thing stands out. Every leader imagined themselves in Maduro’s place, regardless of whether the regime is democratic or not. From now on, any political regime America deems undesirable can become a target. And each of them has taken this situation personally,” Aleksandr Tishchenko stated.
Furthermore, he noted, many interpret the events in Venezuela as a kind of Pandora’s box opened by the Americans. “Today, many who believe they have the right to exert force over others have been given a free hand,” said Aleksandr Tishchenko.
According to the expert, such aggression entirely contradicts any model of a global community. “International law has been completely trampled. The ‘America First’ ideology is dragging humanity back toward a kind of Middle Ages. It turns out that today, one single country decides everything: who should lead, who owns the resources, and how others should live and develop,” he added.
