MINSK, 4 September (BelTA) — Under the leadership of the two countries' presidents, China-Belarus relations have maintained good dynamics and reached an unprecedentedly high level of all-weather comprehensive strategic partnership, outgoing Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People's Republic of China to the Republic of Belarus Xie Xiaoyong said at a meeting with Belarusian First Deputy Prime Minister Nikolai Snopkov on 4 September, BelTA has learned.
“In fact, the time of my work in your beautiful country coincided with a very difficult period. During this time we have successfully overcome a lot of challenges to make our cooperation stronger. Under the leadership of Chinese President Xi Jinping and Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko, China-Belarus relations have maintained good dynamics and reached an unprecedentedly high level of all-weather comprehensive strategic partnership,” the ambassador said. He stressed that he was honored to witness such a milestone in the bilateral relations: “Not all ambassadors have such an opportunity and honor. Therefore, I am very happy.”
The ambassador noted that both countries firmly support each other in core interests: “We jointly protect the international order based on international law. We also work together to protect the sovereignty, security, development interests of both sides, international justice and equality. I was impressed with the way the two countries helped and supported each other in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic,” he remarked.
Ambassador Xie Xiaoyong recalled that with the onset of the pandemic Aleksandr Lukashenko sent over 40 tonnes of aid to China. “When the pandemic broke out in Belarus, China, in turn, immediately sent to your country over 130 tonnes of pandemic-related aid and later about five million doses of vaccine. We also supplied your country with equipment for the manufacturing of masks, gloves, and other medical products in a timely manner. Moreover, our medical specialists shared their experience in treatment, diagnosis and prevention of this terrible disease via videoconference. We joined efforts to fight the pandemic. Thus, we have once again demonstrated the true meaning of the proverb: A friend in need is a friend indeed,” he stated.
