Markov appointed Belarus’ information minister

MINSK, 13 June (BelTA) – On 13 June Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko appointed Marat Markov Information Minister, BelTA has learned.

Before the appointment, Marat Markov was Chairman of the Board of the Second National TV Channel.

Marat Markov was born in the town of Luninets, Brest Oblast, in 1969. He graduated from Minsk Higher Engineering School of Anti-Aircraft Missile Defense in 1991, from the law school of Belarusian State University in 1998, from the Academy of Public Administration under the aegis of the President of the Republic of Belarus in 2013 where he majored in public administration and economics.

At the beginning of his career, he worked in the military, including at the Military Academy of the Republic of Belarus.

From 2003 to 2011 he worked in the Belarus President Administration. From 2009 to 2011 he was First Deputy Head of the Ideology Directorate - Head of the Department for Coordinating Ideological Work.

In 2011-2017 he was Deputy Chairman of the National State Television and Radio Company of the Republic of Belarus.

From 2017 to June 2024 he was Chairman of the Board of the Second National TV Channel.
