Lukashenko: Western politicians are deliberately preparing for war

BISHKEK, 27 November (BelTA) – Western politicians are deliberately preparing for war,  Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko said at the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) summit in Bishkek on 27 November, BelTA has learned.

The president noted that the combined defense expenditures of NATO countries in 2025 will amount to approximately $1.6 trillion. The military ambitions of Germany are growing, as it intends to significantly increase its military spending. Poland, in turn, will earmark nearly $55 billion (about 5% of its GDP) for defense in 2026, making it the NATO leader in terms of this indicator. The size of its armed forces has already exceeded 200,000 personnel. The Baltic states are not far behind Warsaw in terms of their spending.

“All of the above, combined with aggressive rhetoric, indicates that Western politicians are deliberately preparing for war. It is not us, Vladimir Vladimirovich [Russian President Vladimir Putin] who are preparing for war, but according to all the facts, it is them,” the head of state stated.

He also pointed out that Western countries continue to pump weapons into Ukraine. “Where these weapons are now is clear to everyone: they are spreading all over the world,” the Belarusian leader remarked.
