Lukashenko wants strict order restored at filling stations

MINSK, 16 October (BelTA) – It is important to restore strict order and eliminate queues at filling stations by 20 October, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko said at a meeting in Minsk on 16 October, BelTA has learned.

Addressing Prime Minister Aleksandr Turchin, the president endorsed his statement made yesterday in an interview with journalists regarding the sufficient supply of the domestic market with oil products. “You were right to say in your interview yesterday that we must under no circumstances let Belarusians down. The Belarusian market takes priority,” the president said.
At the same time, Aleksandr Lukashenko has been receiving reports that people are complaining about queues. “Some are already writing that there are long queues at the filling stations,” he said.

The president mentioned that he inquired what the reason for such a situation was and whether the government was failing to follow the instruction to ensure sufficient fuel supply to the domestic market. However, it turned out that in addition to refueling their cars, visitors to filing stations love to use cafe services. “They park their cars sideways so that no one can get through and chill out in a cafe drinking coffee,” the head of state said.

The president recalled that back in the day people literally demanded that every filling station have necessary goods and coffee options, for example.
“Now they are complaining and call on the president to sort things out! Are you out of your minds? You asked for it, didn’t you? I made the decision that every filling station must have goods and coffee. Now the problem is about queues and cars parked wrong…” he said.
Addressing the state secretary of Belarus’ Security Council, Aleksandr Lukashenko asked him to instruct the head of the Belarusian Ministry of Internal Affairs to restore order on this matter: “Instruct Kubrakov to restore strict order there by Monday.”
