Lukashenko reveals weaponry acquisition plans

MINSK, 22 February (BelTA) – A broad range of cutting-edge weapons will be bought for the Belarusian army in the next few years. Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko made the relevant statement during a solemn assembly held on 22 February ahead of Fatherland Defenders Day, BelTA has learned.

Aleksandr Lukashenko said: “Within the next few years we intend to buy and hand over to the army a broad range of cutting-edge weapons, including Su-30SM aircraft (their delivery will be finished in late 2022, they performed brilliantly during the latest army exercise), dozens of helicopters, and air defense missile systems Tor-M2.”

The head of state also mentioned that work is now in progress on equipping the Belarusian army with cutting-edge air defense missile systems S-400 Triumf.
