Lukashenko approves Belarus defense plan for 2026-2030

MINSK, 9 December (BelTA) – Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko has approved the country’s defense plan for 2026-2030, BelTA learned from Chief of the General Staff, First Deputy Defense Minister of the Republic of Belarus Pavel Muraveiko after a session of the Security Council.
The officer explained that results of essentially one year of work of the General Staff, the Defense Ministry, republican government agencies on planning the country’s defense for the next five years had been reviewed during the session of the Security Council. The approaches stipulated by the National Security Concept, the Military Doctrine and approved by the Belarusian People’s Congress were taken into account in the course of developing the document.

According to Pavel Muraveiko, the president closely examined the content of the document and the suggested key approaches to defending the state: how the threats emerging around Belarus will be counteracted, how military conflicts will be deterred, what the readiness for repulsing aggression is, and what steps need to be taken in order to see peace and security in Belarus’ territory.

“The head of state has considered and approved all the documents [submitted for his consideration], an action plan on ensuring the military security and defense of our country. A presidential decree on approving the overall defense plan is being prepared,” the chief of the General Staff said.
