MOSCOW, 10 November (BelTA) – Russian President Vladimir Putin suggested that the EU countries should establish direct contacts with Minsk to resolve the migrant problem, BelTA learned from the Kremlin press service following a phone call between the Russian head of state and Germany's acting Chancellor Angela Merkel.
“The situation with the refugees on Belarus' border with the EU was discussed in detail. It was noted that humanitarian consequences of the migrant crisis are a matter of concern. The president of Russia proposed to discuss the problem in direct contact of representatives of the EU member states with Minsk. Vladimir Putin and Angela Merkel agreed to come back to this topic later,” the press service noted.
