MP: Belarus-Türkiye relations are on the rise

MINSK, 17 May (BelTA) – Belarus-Türkiye relations are developing dynamically, Chairman of the Standing Commission on International Affairs of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus Sergei Rachkov told reporters. The MP took part in the meeting between Chairman of the House of Representatives Igor Sergeyenko and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Türkiye to Belarus Güçlü Cem Işık on 17 May, BelTA has learned.

“Belarus-Türkiye relations are on the rise. A high level of mutual understanding has been established between the presidents of the two countries. We are doing a lot through parliament. Friendship groups have been set up in the parliaments of our countries, visits are exchanged, consultations are held on parliamentary and international activities of the two legislative bodies,” said Sergei Rachkov. “We strive to support each other in international parliamentary structures.”

According to him, economic cooperation is making good progress, too. “Over the past few years, trade has hovered around $1 billion, and we are moving very confidently towards the target of $1.5 billion,” the parliamentarian noted. “We have also advanced in trade in services. Investment cooperation is important for Belarus. More than 120 enterprises with Turkish capital are registered in Belarus. More than 100 companies with Belarusian capital operate in Türkiye. Cooperation in education, science and culture is quite vibrant, too. We help the Republic of Türkiye with natural disaster response, which is always appreciated.”
