Lukashevich: 2025 marks turning point in Belarus-UAE investment cooperation

MINSK, 28 November (BelTA) – The successful cooperation between Belarus and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) is based on the constant dialogue and the sincere relationship between the leaders of the two countries, Belarusian First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Sergey Lukashevich said during his speech at a ceremony marking the 54th anniversary of the UAE’s founding on 27 November, BelTA has learned.

“It is a great honor for me to congratulate you, Mr. Ambassador, and the entire friendly people of the United Arab Emirates on your national holiday. Fifty-four years ago, under the leadership of Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, a new stage in the history of your country began,” Sergey Lukashevich said. “The establishment of the UAE marked the birth of a state committed to development, progress, and creating favorable conditions for the prosperity of its citizens.”

The Belarusian first deputy minister emphasized that today the UAE is a globally recognized symbol of innovation, sustainable development, tolerance, and harmony. The country demonstrates an ability to effectively leverage opportunities for comprehensive development, harmoniously integrating into the global system while preserving its unique identity, traditions, and rich spiritual heritage.

“The foundation of the successful cooperation between Belarus and the UAE is the constant dialogue and the sincere, open relationship between the leaders of our countries,” the first deputy minister said. “We are grateful to the UAE side for their support and willingness to jointly advance along the priority avenues of bilateral cooperation. This year has been a landmark one for investment cooperation. We have completed the first stage of the Belarus-UAE project Severny Bereg [North Waterfront] ahead of schedule. It has already become a symbol of our strategic partnership. This is the largest UAE project in Belarus, and we hope that following this one, other investment projects in agriculture, industry, tourism, and medicine will be successfully implemented.”

“We have also begun the construction of the building of the Belarusian Embassy in Abu Dhabi, which brings our countries closer together symbolically,” he noted.

“A crucial step has been the creation of a solid legal foundation for the development of trade and economic ties. The Agreement on Economic Partnership between the EAEU and the UAE and the Agreement on Free Trade in Services and Investment between Belarus and the UAE have been signed. These documents create a new reality and a barrier-free environment for our businesses, paving the way for qualitatively new models of interaction, including in high technologies,” Sergey Lukashevich emphasized.

In his opinion, the potential for further expansion of cooperation between Belarus and the UAE is virtually limitless.

The Belarusian first deputy minister of foreign affairs expressed gratitude to the Embassy of the UAE in Belarus and personally to Ibrahim Salim Al-Musharrakh for their constant contribution to the promotion of bilateral cooperation.

“I sincerely hope that through our joint efforts we will elevate our relations to an even higher level and supplement our agenda with new ideas that can be discussed at the upcoming meeting of the intergovernmental joint committee,” Sergey Lukashevich summed up.
