NAYPYIDAW, 28 November (BelTA) - Myanmar is looking forward to more robust economic cooperation with Belarus as a result of the agreements reached during the visit of Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko to the country, Acting President of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, Chairman of the State Security and Peace Commission Min Aung Hlaing said during the one-on-one talks with the Belarusian head of the state, BelTA has learned.
First of all, he thanked the Belarusian leader for his visit to Myanmar, which confirms the high level of trust and the achieved level of interaction between the two countries. He also expressed gratitude to the Belarusian side for its support of Myanmar on the international stage, including at the UN General Assembly.

Speaking broadly about cooperation within various international organizations, Min Aung Hlaing welcomed Belarus' acquisition of partner status in BRICS and noted that Myanmar also aspires to develop cooperation with BRICS and with the SCO. Furthermore, the country intends to elevate its status in the EAEU by becoming an observer state in the union. In this regard, the leader of Myanmar asked the Belarusian head of state for support of these initiatives.
“When we expand relations with foreign countries, trade and economic cooperation plays the key role. During your visit, we will be able to discuss ways to expand our economic interaction," Min Aung Hlaing stated.
