MINSK, 1 October (BelTA) – Belarus is getting ready to join the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation in Southeast Asia (TAC), also known as the Bali Concord, Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs Maksim Ryzhenkov told journalists, BelTA reports.

At the UN General Assembly in New York, Maksim Ryzhenkov held sideline meetings with Asian partners, covering both bilateral relations and collaborative efforts in international organizations.

“These discussions concerned our advancement within international organizations. We have also engaged with member states of relevant organizations, such as ASEAN, whose support is vital as we prepare to join the Bali Concord and enhance our visibility throughout the region,” the foreign minister noted.

The Treaty of Amity and Cooperation in Southeast Asia, signed in Bali on 24 February 1976, established the foundational framework for ASEAN. It codified a shared commitment to regional security, national sovereignty, and the peaceful resolution of conflicts. In doing so, the founding members affirmed each state’s right to exist without external interference or internal subversion.
