MINSK, 5 December (BelTA) – Belarus and Uruguay would like to step up inter-parliamentary interaction, member of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus Sergei Klishevich told BelTA.
Sergei Klishevich is part of the Belarusian parliamentary delegation that is taking part in the 38th General Assembly of the Latin American and Caribbean Parliament (PARLATINO) in Panama City. On the sidelines of the event, he met with Speaker of the House of Representatives of Uruguay Ana Olivera.
“During the meeting, we have discussed ways to intensify inter-parliamentary cooperation between the two countries, including online contacts to study practical issues and the possibility to put together working groups. The speaker of the Uruguayan parliament emphasized the need to build a constructive dialogue between the two countries. She also spoke in favor of Belarus’ international initiatives aimed at building a fair world order based on multipolarity and mutual respect for the diverse development paths of various countries. The initiatives of the president of our country are heard throughout the world by progressive politicians striving for a fair world order,” he said.
The interaction of the Parliament of the Republic of Belarus with PARLATINO is based on the Cooperation Agreement between the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus and the Latin American Parliament that was signed in Minsk on 28 March 2016. Since 2016, Belarusian parliamentarians have taken part in the meetings of the General Assembly twice.
