MOSCOW, 11 December (BelTA) – Myanmar, Nicaragua, and Venezuela have submitted applications for getting the status of an observer state under the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU). Prime Minister of Belarus Aleksandr Turchin made the statement at an expanded-participation session of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council in Moscow on 11 December, BelTA has learned.
Aleksandr Turchin said: “Our advancement on the outside track deserves a special mention. An agreement on economic partnership has been signed with the United Arab Emirates and a temporary trade agreement has been signed with Mongolia. A full-scale agreement on free trade with Iran started working in May 2025. There are plans to sign another agreement on free trade with Indonesia. Three states – Myanmar, Nicaragua, and Venezuela – have submitted applications seeking the status of an observer state under the Eurasian Economic Union.”
“At present the union has to compile a list of new EAEU partners. I think in this work we should focus on friendly countries in Asia and Africa, which markets manufacturers from our countries are interested in,” the prime minister of Belarus added.
