Ambassador: China approaches relations with Belarus with strategic vision

MINSK, 24 July (BelTA) – China consistently approaches relations with Belarus with strategic vision and long-term commitment, Chinese Ambassador to Belarus Zhang Wenchuan said during a press briefing at the Chinese Embassy in Minsk, BelTA reports.

“While Minsk’s summer has been mild this year, China-Belarus relations - particularly our high-level engagements and multifaceted cooperation - are experiencing unprecedented dynamism,” the ambassador remarked. “Today, I will brief you on recent milestones in our bilateral partnership, China’s stance on tariff policies, and preparations for commemorating the 80th  anniversary of the Victory in the Chinese People’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression,” the diplomat said.

The ambassador began his briefing by highlighting Aleksandr Lukashenko’s recent visit to China. “On 4 June Aleksandr Lukashenko visited China, where he held a cordial, friendly meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping at the Zhongnanhai residence. The two heads of state held an in-depth exchange of views on bilateral relations and international issues of mutual interest. Xi Jinping once again congratulated President Aleksandr Lukashenko on his re-election, emphasizing that China and Belarus are good friends and reliable partners who trust each other and wish each other well,” the ambassador emphasized.

According to him, the friendship between the two countries has only grown stronger over the years; political trust remains unshakable, and cooperation in all areas is robust and vibrant. “China consistently approaches relations with Belarus with strategic vision and long-term commitment, and is ready to work closely with Belarus to promote the stable and long-term development of bilateral relations and deepen mutually beneficial cooperation. The key points in the Chinese President’s speech precisely captured the unique essence and nature of China-Belarus relations, charting the fundamental course for the future development of bilateral ties,” Zhang Wenchuan said.

He went on saying: “President Aleksandr Lukashenko warmly reminisced about his longstanding and unbreakable ties with China, while conveying his heartfelt gratitude for the generous hospitality accorded to him by the Chinese side. The head of state commended the robust momentum in China-Belarus relations and the profound political mutual trust between the two sides. He acknowledged China’s pivotal role in upholding multilateralism and safeguarding the international order, while reaffirming Belarus’ commitment to further deepen bilateral and multilateral cooperation across all domains. Together with China, Belarus stands ready to champion international justice and fairness on the global stage. Aleksandr Lukashenko particularly highlighted the significance of this being his fifteenth visit to China.”
