MINSK, 20 July (BelTA) - Despite the political turbulence, Belarus and Ukraine remain important markets for each other, Belarusian Ambassador to Ukraine Igor Sokol told the media in Minsk on 20 July, BelTA has learned.
"Despite the political turbulence, Ukraine remains an important strategic market for us. We are among the six largest markets for Ukrainian products," the ambassador said.
According to him, in January-May the trade between the countries increased by 40% year-on-year. Belarusian exports surged by 60%, taking into account petroleum products, while imports from Ukraine decreased by 6%. These figures confirm that we, despite the political turbulence, remain important trade and economic partners for each other," Ambassador Igor Sokol said.
The diplomat stressed that the Ukrainian leadership should realize the importance of building clear, transparent and partnership relations with Belarus.
