Call on Belarusians to rally together for nation's stability and prosperity

MINSK, 7 May (BelTA) - It is important that the state and society join efforts for stability and prosperity of Belarus, Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs Sergei Aleinik told the media after a ceremony to lay flowers at the Military Cemetery as part of the national-wide campaign "Belarus Remembers. We Remember Everyone” in Minsk on 7 May, BelTA has learned.
"In these blessed days of May, we are visiting the monuments that the long-suffering Belarusian land is dotting with. We are honoring the memory of the great tragedy, the Great Patriotic War, the memory of the courage, heroism and resilience of our people in those tragic years. We are going to bow low to all the victims and the tragedy the scale of which we are yet to realize including in the framework of the criminal case into the genocide of the Belarusian people investigated by the Prosecutor General's Office. It is our sacred duty today to bow to the fallen, to emphasize the importance of the historical memory of that war. It is our sacred duty to pass on this historical memory and truth to future generations, to unite all the efforts of our state and society to keep our beloved Belarus peaceful, stable and prosperous,” the minister noted.
Sergei Aleinik noted that to the west of the Bug River, they persist with the attempts to rewrite history, to retouch the heroic pages of the feat of the Soviet and Belarusian peoples. They are waging war against monuments, creating artificial administrative obstacles for Belarusian diplomats who want to visit places of remembrance, lay flowers and bow to the fallen.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and for all Belarusian diplomatic missions abroad continue working to convey the historical memory and truth to the international community. In these May days, diplomatic missions will hold a series of events dedicated to the Great Victory. Diplomats will lay flowers at monuments, meet with veterans, and organize information campaigns.

"We will organize an information campaign ‘Candle of Memory’: on 8-9 May, all diplomatic missions will light candles in memory of those who died in the Great Patriotic War," Sergei Aleinik said. “We are also conducting an information campaign #BY80 on social networks. We invite Belarusians to join it."

It is also planned to screen films about the history of the war, place materials in the media around the world.

In addition, Belarus, together with like-minded nations, is working to maintain and promote the historical truth. "On 9 May, a statement of like-minded countries dedicated to the 79th anniversary of  Great Victory will be read out in the OSCE Permanent Council. We also work in the UN General Assembly, special bodies and committees. All this systemic work will be continued and stepped up in the year of the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Belarus and ahead of the 80th anniversary of Great Victory of the Soviet people in the Great Patriotic War," the minister said.
