ABU DHABI, 8 May (BelTA - Emirates News Agency) - UAE Team ADQ celebrated another victory as Safiya Alsayegh, a rising Emirati cycling talent, won the ITT UAE National Championship. Safiya's win in the 20 km race, held in the Nazwa region, solidifies her status as the top Emirati women's cycling champion.

Coming off her recent road race triumph in Sharjah, Safiya showcased her exceptional skill and commitment once again, while Zahra Hussain of the UAE Development Team secured the silver medal in the same race. Their success reflects UAE Team ADQ's efforts in fostering local talent and promoting women's cycling in the region.

Internationally, UAE Team ADQ continued to excel, with Karljin Swinkels, the Dutch rider, securing the "Queen of the Mountains" title for six stages in a row at the Spanish Grand Tour, La Vuelta Femenina. This was followed by victories in France for Silvia Persico and Eleonora Gasparrini at the Grand Prix du Morbihan and La Classique Morbihan, respectively, along with a triple win in Gran Premio della Liberazione de Roma.

Melissa Moncada, President of UAE Team ADQ, commented, "Safiya's double victory at the UAE National Championships highlights her exceptional talent and dedication, establishing her as a leading figure in UAE cycling. We hope Safiya's achievements inspire young women to embrace cycling and benefit from UAE Team ADQ's support. Moreover, the team's consistent success in Europe is a testament to our determination and inspiration."

Safiya Alsayegh, UAE Team ADQ rider, expressed gratitude for the team's support, saying, "I am thankful to UAE Team ADQ and my teammates for motivating me to pursue my dream of representing the UAE globally. I am more determined than ever to push the boundaries of women's cycling. I hope my participation inspires others, especially with the Emirati Talent Program providing a pathway. To young girls who love cycling, my message is: you could be the next UAE champion, so work for it."

Safiya's triumph in the ITT UAE National Championships further solidifies her position in Emirati women's sports, as one of the few representing the UAE internationally, notably at the upcoming Paris Olympics.
