Over 58% of vegetables planted in Belarus

MINSK, 8 May (BelTA) – Vegetables have been planted on more than 58% of the designated area in Belarus, BelTA learned from the Belarusian Agriculture and Food Ministry.

Spring crops were sown on 1,520,700 hectares, which is 64.3% of the plan. Early spring grain and leguminous crops (excluding maize, buckwheat and millet) were planted on an area of 580,800 hectares, which is 94.3% of the target.

Spring rapeseed was planted on an area of 36,300 hectares, which is 59% of the target. Sugar beet was planted on 101,900 hectares (98.8%).

Maize was planted on 587,100 hectares (47.9%), including grain maize (89.6%), potatoes on 8,950 hectares (53.6%), vegetables on 2,950 hectares (58.7%).
