MINSK, 7 May (BelTA) - Belarus is taking retaliatory measures against the build-up of offensive capabilities in Poland and the Baltic states, Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs Sergei Aleinik said in an interview with RIA Novosti, BelTA has learned.
“We see quite obvious militarization within the borders. We see the build-up of offensive military potentials (both on the part of Poland and the Baltic states). We are monitoring these processes with concern. Of course, we take response measures aimed at protecting the sovereignty, independence and maintaining the appropriate defense capability of our state,” Sergei Aleinik stressed.
In his words, today’s rhetoric of the West “is active and very hostile”. “Time will tell what comes next. In any case, the military activity, which we are seeing today, cannot but cause concern both in Belarus and Russia. On the other hand (we have said this many times), we are capable of defending and protecting our country,” the minister said.
