Substantial progress in negotiations on EAEU-Egypt free trade agreement

MOSCOW, 24 June (BelTA) – The Eurasian Economic Union and Egypt have secured substantial progress in negotiations on signing a free trade agreement. The news was mentioned by Aleksei Ashikhmin, a representative of the trade bloc of the Eurasian Economic Commission, after Member of the Board (Minister) for Trade of the Eurasian Economic Commission Andrei Slepnev met with Egyptian Trade and Industry Minister Nevin Gamea, BelTA has learned.

The sides mentioned the success of the fourth round of negotiations on signing a free trade agreement between the Eurasian Economic Union and Egypt. The fourth round of negotiations took place in Moscow on 21-23 June. Andrei Slepnev and Nevin Gamea stressed that the teams had managed to secure substantial progress in negotiations.

The ministers agreed to hold the next round of negotiations in Egypt in November 2021. The negotiating teams will continue intensive interaction till then. Andrei Slepnev and Nevin Gamea also touched upon topical items on the international trade agenda during the meeting.
