Second Belarusian potash mining company builds artesian wells

MINSK, 30 December (BelTA) – IOOO Slavkaliy has built artesian wells to supply water to the Nezhinsky mining and processing factory, the company's press service told BelTA.

Six artesian wells as deep as 140m as well as pump stations at each well are ready to supply water. A road to the wells has been built as well as a water conduit to deliver water to the mining and processing factory. Apart from that, two reservoirs to store purified water and supply water for fire extinguishing are ready.

There are plans to connect the water extraction installations to the power grid in spring 2020 in order to use them as part of the single water supply grid. The future enterprise will need about 6,000-7,000m3 of drinking water and process water per day.

The construction of other facilities continues. A storage site with a gantry crane has been finished. Concrete floors are being made in the warehouse area. Preparations to build internal pipelines and networks are in progress over there. Specialists are busy building roofs in the automobile transport division and the repair shops division. The site for building railways is ready. A city block of residential houses for the company personnel is being built.

The Nezhinsky mining and processing factory based on the Starobinskoye potash salts deposit will be the second enterprise in Belarus to mine potash salts and make potash fertilizers. It will be able to make up to 2 million tonnes of potassium chloride per annum. The investment project provides for building one mining facility in addition to a processing plant, a gas turbine power plant for proprietary needs, railway infrastructure, automobile roads, housing infrastructure, and other kinds. The construction of the Nezhinsky mining and processing factory began in 2017. IOOO Slavkaliy is in charge of implementing the project. The company is part of Mikhail Gutseriyev's Safmar Group.
