KRICHEV, 5 October (BelTA) - Agriculture has immense potential for growth, Dmitry Krutoi, Head of the Belarus President Administration and the president's authorized representative in Mogilev Oblast, said at the regional Dazhynki 2025 harvest festival and fair in Krichev on 4 October, BelTA has learned.
During the ceremony honoring the region's best agricultural workers, Dmitry Krutoi read out a welcome address from Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko. He then joined in congratulating not only the region's top performers but also those who prepared Krichev for the regional holiday. “I would like to express my gratitude and deep respect to the residents of Krichev and Krichev District, as well as to the organizations from Mogilev Oblast and across the country who have been preparing for this celebration for two years. Look at how the city has been transformed, how many landmark sites have been renovated, and how beautiful the roads and sidewalks have become. Krichev has become an even more comfortable place for our people to live,” Dmitry Krutoi said. “You have done a tremendous amount of work. Like gracious hosts, you were very concerned that your guests would enjoy themselves. And I believe the celebration has been a success.”

The head of the Belarus President Administration noted that only part of the work in the fields has been completed. The results achieved by the region's farmers this year are the outcome of systematic work. “I want to thank the Mogilev Oblast governor. I remember discussing last year's results and plans, and everything was elevated to a higher level, focusing on crop rotation, fertilizers, and adhering to technological processes,” he said. “Mogilev Oblast has produced results that are practically on par with the nation's leaders.”

“The president pays immense attention to the performance of our agricultural sector. On one hand, this means tremendous responsibility, but it also brings enormous support, which leads to the outstanding results our rural workers have achieved,” Dmitry Krutoi emphasized. “They have secured our country's food sovereignty and generated nearly $9 billion in exports. Our entire country's exports back in 1995 were less than what the agricultural sector alone shows today. The potential for growth is immense, particularly in boosting the efficiency of our product sales on foreign markets.”

This year, Mogilev Oblast has harvested what is essentially a record-high crop, including maize, the total will reach about 1.5 million tonnes. “The current task, given the successful forage harvest, is to convert these achievements in crop production into gains in animal husbandry,” the head of the Belarus President Administration said.
The region has formulated a livestock development program running through 2030. Dmitry Krutoi highlighted that the president has set the objective of achieving forward momentum in this area every year, with an average growth of 6-7%. “The established grain and feed base allows for the achievement of much higher rates,” he said. “A key feature of Mogilev Oblast is the highly varied performance among its districts. We have leaders on par with the top districts in the country, but we also have those that are lagging behind, and the current focus is entirely on them. Systematic work is required. Last year, to build a foundation for the 2025 harvest, systemic decisions were made regarding seeds and winter sowing technologies. As you can see, this has produced results in just a single year.”

Dmitry Krutoi stressed the need to increase livestock efficiency, which in turn requires the integration of modern technological solutions and scientific approaches. Investment activity must also continue. A more cohesive strategy is also needed for the construction of dairy farming complexes. Significant resources are being allocated to these projects. To ensure the steady repayment of these credit resources, a self-sustaining system is necessary, similar to the one that has been established, for example, in Brest Oblast.
