EAEU, India step up free trade agreement talks 

MINSK, 16 September (BelTA) – The Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) and India are stepping up talks to create a free trade zone, the EAEU trade department told BelTA.

During a meeting held in New Delhi on 15 September, Minister for Trade of the Eurasian Economic Commission Andrey Slepnev and India’s Minister of Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal noted that they had agreed on a roadmap to promote and step up effective free trade talks between the Eurasian Economic Union and India.

The parties also agreed that the first round of talks will take place in India in early November 2025 and will focus on the key issues of the future agreement.It will be preceded by consultations of the Eurasian Economic Commission with Indian partners and the EAEU member states.

The ministers agreed to maintain regular contact to provide comprehensive support for the talks.

The decision to start talks with India on a free trade agreement was made by the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council on 26 December 2016.
