Deputy PM: Belarus seeks to expand machinery exports to Russia’s Tyumen Oblast

MINSK, 28 July (BelTA) - Belarus is interested in increasing the supply of machinery to Russia’s Tyumen Oblast, Belarus’ Deputy Prime Minister Yuri Shuleiko said during a meeting with Tyumen Oblast Governor Alexander Moor, BelTA has learned.

Yuri Shuleiko noted that bilateral cooperation between Belarus and Tyumen Oblast is steadily developing, with annual trade approaching $4 billion. “The bulk of this trade involves hydrocarbon raw materials, which are crucial for Belarus and are purchased from Tyumen. Importing these resources enables our economy to function properly and allows Belarusian enterprises to produce goods for both domestic market and export,” he emphasized.

The deputy prime minister also highlighted the progressive development of cooperation in the supply of Belarusian elevators and agricultural machinery, including through regional programs. He believes that the signing of framework cooperation agreements between the Department of Agro-Industrial Complex of Tyumen Oblast and Belarusian companies MTZ and Gomselmash will further boost activity in this area.

“As for Ural Federal District, similar agreements have been signed between Belarusian manufacturers and the agriculture ministries of Sverdlovsk Oblast and Chelyabinsk Oblast. In addition to scheduled equipment deliveries, the documents also provide for guaranteed supplies of original spare parts and the provision of technical service,” he stressed.

Yuri Shuleiko emphasized that there is significant potential for bilateral cooperation in supplying Belarusian equipment to Tyumen Oblast, including road construction, freight, special-purpose, and passenger vehicles, with the use of preferential financial instruments offered by the Belarusian government.

“We are awaiting your proposals in response to the comprehensive offers from Belarusian manufacturers (MAZ, MTZ), which were sent to the Tyumen side in early July this year. To streamline this work moving forward, we would like to receive Tyumen’s projected equipment needs for 2025-2026 and address the matter within the framework of a working group,” he stated.

Given the urgency of wildfire prevention in Tyumen Oblast, Belarus also hopes for prompt practical results in establishing deliveries of high-quality firefighting equipment from Pozhsnab. Work in this area is being carried out, including at the government level.

The deputy prime minister remarked that increasing the volume of Belarusian machinery purchases would help address the issue of establishing a multi-brand center in Tyumen Oblast for showcasing, selling, and servicing this equipment.

“Among our joint achievements is the establishment of cooperation between Belarusian enterprises and Tyumen-based gas turbine companies with expertise in repairing foreign-made equipment. We’ve also seen growth in Belarusian exports of food products and agricultural raw materials, as well as the expansion of the Belorusskie Produkty [Belarusian goods] retail network in Tyumen Oblast,” he added. “Promising areas include joint scientific and technical research, particularly in biosafety, and the development of cooperative projects between Belarusian manufacturers and Russian companies such as Bentek, INOMA, and Tenet. There is mutual interest in projects to supply equipment for livestock facilities, compound feed, premixes, and amino acids produced by the Belarusian National Biotechnology Corporation, and veterinary drugs for the needs of agricultural enterprises in Tyumen Oblast.”

Belarus is also keen to expand humanitarian cooperation with Tyumen Oblast in all areas of mutual interest, including culture, education, sports, and tourism.
