CIS heads of government set to sign agreement on free trade in services in May

MINSK, 15 February (BelTA) - The CIS heads of government are planning to sign the agreement on free trade in services in May, First Deputy Chairman of the Executive Committee – CIS Executive Secretary Leonid Anfimov told reporters in Minsk on 15 February, BelTA has learned.

"We have started preparing for the next meeting of the CIS Council of Heads of Government which is scheduled in Nur-Sultan in late May. Therefore, at today's meeting the permanent plenipotentiaries will consider the preliminary proposals for its agenda. I don't want to elaborate on them now because it's still a draft agenda. I will only say that we very much hope that in May the CIS Council of Heads of Government will finally sign the agreement on free trade in services between the CIS member states," Leonid Anfimov said.

He stressed that this is a very important document. "It has been under development for many years. Work on it came to a logical conclusion last year, during the presidency of Belarus in the CIS. Some issues have been finalized and now the document, in principle, is ready for signing," he added.

On 15 February, the CIS Executive Committee in Minsk is hosting a scheduled meeting of the CIS Council of Permanent Plenipotentiary Representatives. At the meeting, Kazakhstan's Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Marat Syzdykov will present the Concept of Kazakhstan's Presidency in the Commonwealth of Independent States in 2022 and an action plan to implement it.

The permanent plenipotentiaries will also discuss the draft agenda of the next meeting of the CIS Ministerial Council to be held in Dushanbe on 8 April and the draft agenda of the next meeting of the CIS Council of Heads of Government due in Nur-Sultan in May.
