MINSK, 22 January (BelTA) – The first company Yemen has been accredited to participate in the exchange trading of agricultural products on the Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange (BUCE), BelTA learned from the BUCE press service.

The new participant of the exchange trading is an importer and a wholesale supplier of food products from the city of Seiyun (Governorate of Hadhramaut). The company plans to buy Belarusian powdered milk through the exchange platform, which is in high demand in the Yemeni market. Thus, Yemen has joined the list of countries represented on BUCE. Now, taking into account Belarus, the exchange trading geography covers 84 countries around the world.

"Yemen has become the 11th country in the Middle East and North Africa, whose resident companies have the right to buy and sell goods on the Belarusian commodity exchange. So far, 86 companies have represented this region on the exchange. Moreover, most of them came to the exchange over the past few years. The leaders in the number of accredited participants are the United Arab Emirates, Syria, Egypt, Israel and Lebanon. These are mainly buyers of dairy products and lumber, who are provided by the exchange with the opportunity to purchase Belarusian-made goods without intermediaries and at transparent market prices," the press service reported.

In addition to the supply of Belarusian dairy products, the export of frozen meat and semi-finished beef products may become a promising area of exchange trade between Belarus and Yemen. These positions are also in demand in the Yemeni market, and their import through BUCE would allow promoting trade between the two countries.

In 2025, companies from the MENA region concluded exchange deals for the import of Belarusian products totaling $57 million, which was 19% year on year. The participants primarily purchased amino acids, milk powder, flax fiber and woodworking products.

Founded in 2004, the Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange conducted its first trading session in June 2005. BUCE is one of the largest commodity exchanges in Eastern Europe. Its main function is to assist Belarusian enterprises with export and foreign companies with entering the Belarusian market. BUCE sells a wide range of metal, forestry and agricultural products, industrial and consumer goods.
