Belarus- Azerbaijan economic cooperation believed to have great prospects

MINSK, 12 June (BelTA) – Belarus and Azerbaijan have everything in place to expand economic cooperation, Head of the Azerbaijan-Belarus inter-parliamentary cooperation group Ziyad Samedzade told reporters, BelTA has learned.

“The Republic of Belarus is developing dynamically and successfully thanks to the huge work carried out under the leadership of Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko,” said Ziyad Samedzade. “The experience of Belarus deserves the highest praise. We have thoroughly analyzed the dynamics of Belarus' economic development over the years. It is truly gratifying that Belarus and Azerbaijan have very good, vibrant relations. You have a highly developed manufacturing industry. We must make the most of Belarus' expertise and knowledge in promoting our industry. We are glad that you are successfully addressing economic security issues and protecting the domestic market. “I can talk endlessly about the successes of Belarus.”

Azerbaijan's parliamentary delegation led by Speaker of the Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova is on a visit to Belarus these days. A number of meetings have already taken place at the high and highest levels.

“We are confident about the prospects of our cooperation; we have no doubt that our economic relations will gain momentum. The task has already been set: the bilateral trade should hit the $1 billion mark. We have come here in order to thrash out the path to promote our inter-parliamentary contacts. We have a parliamentary friendship group that works to strengthen inter-parliamentary cooperation with Belarus,” Ziyad Samedzade remarked. “Everyone in the Republic of Azerbaijan loves Belarus. They say that Belarus is a calm country. Despite the sanctions and pressure from the West, you keep moving forward along the path you have chosen. Azerbaijan and Belarus are strategic partners,” he added.
