MINSK, 7 June (BelTA) - Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Mongolia Dmitry Gorelik has visited the Dornod aimag (Mongolian administrative unit), BelTA learned from the Belarusian diplomatic mission in Mongolia.
The purpose of the visit was to meet with representatives of the region and the city of Choibalsan, and to participate in the events marking the 77th anniversary of the victory in the Great Patriotic War and the 83rd anniversary of the victory in the battle of Khalkhin-Gol.
The parties discussed promising areas for enhancing bilateral cooperation, including the supply of Belarusian agricultural, road repair and municipal equipment.
“Wreath ceremonies with the participation of the military guard took place during the visit to Choibalsan secondary school No. 2 named after twice Hero of the Soviet Union Sergei Gritsevets and the monument to Soviet pilots who took part in the battle of Khalkhin-Gol. An agreement with the school representatives was reached to arrange for 2-3 graduates of the school to study in Belarus on grants provided to Mongolian citizens,” the embassy said.
A meeting was also held with the leadership of the Khalkhin-Gol somon (administrative-territorial unit), after which the Mongolian side expressed interest in developing cooperation with Belarus in the agricultural sector. The parties also laid a wreath at the monument to the victory in the battle of Khalkhin-Gol and visited the museum of military glory.
