Sardinia, Belarus expanding cooperation in education, science

MINSK, 30 June (BelTA) – Italy's Sardinia and Belarus are expanding cooperation in education and science, Honorary Consul of Belarus to Cagliari, Sardinia Giuseppe Carboni told BelTA.

Bilateral cooperation has been boosted after the visits of Provost for Research at the University of Cagliari Micaela Morelli to the Belarusian State University, the Belarusian State University of Culture and Arts and the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus.

The meeting with representatives of the Belarusian State University highlighted cooperation areas in education and research, the organization of joint education and cultural programs and projects, student and academic staff exchanges. Special attention was paid to cooperation in the aerospace field. At the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus the parties talked over cooperation in the Earth remote sensing and the possibility for joint research and scientific work in the aerospace sphere.

At the Belarusian State University of Culture and Arts Micaela Morelli attended the students' thesis defense in the management of international cultural ties. Many students presented their projects in the Italian and English languages. The Professor also held a number of working meetings with representatives of the university.

Belarus and the autonomous region of Sardinia have been steadily developing cooperation. In early June Belarus' Ambassador to Italy Alexander Guryanov paid an official visit to this important Italian region where he met with President of Sardinia Francesco Pigliaru and Vice President of the Parliament of Sardinia Eugenio Lai. One of the top topics for discussion was cooperation in aerospace and ITC.
