Lukashenko: Border guards have always been example of selfless service to country, people

MINSK, 1 May (BelTA) – Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko extended greetings to the command, personnel and veterans of the Dzerzhinsky Brest Red Banner Border Group to congratulate them on the 80th anniversary of the group, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian leader.

"Border guards have always been an example of exemplary, selfless service to the country and the people. Belarus remembers the feat of the border guards who were the first to take the blow of the enemy in June 1941, showing boundless fortitude and courage. In the post-war decades, reliably protecting the western borders of our Fatherland, the 86th border detachment distinguished themselves in the fight against criminal gangs, saboteurs and smugglers," the congratulatory message reads.

The head of state noted that in the current difficult, ever changing situation, sacredly preserving and multiplying the traditions of the heroic generation of veterans, the border guards - the new generation of independent Belarus - solve the most difficult tasks of protecting the state border at a high professional level, worthily and honestly. They do everything possible to ensure that the life of Belarusians always remains peaceful and safe.

"I am convinced that our borders are under your reliable protection and that each of you will remain loyal to your duty of a warrior and patriot to the people," Aleksandr Lukashenko stressed.

The president wished the border group and the veterans who stood at its origins good health, prosperity and new successes in their service for the benefit of Belarus, and peace, well-being and happiness to their families and friends.
