MINSK, 27 April (BelTA) – The Belavia national air carrier launched regular flights to Russia's Makhachkala International Airport from Minsk on 26 April, BelTA learned from the airline’s press service.

The Minsk-Makhachkala-Minsk flight will be operated once a week on Fridays.

The flight will depart from Minsk at 13:10 to arrive in Makhachkala at 16:40. The return flight will leave Makhachkala at 17:40 to arrive in Minsk at 21:35. Embraer-195 aircraft will be used for this route. It has a comfortable economy and business class cabin. The flight time from Minsk to Makhachkala will be 3 hours 30 minutes, the return flight will take 3 hours 45 minutes.

The launch of the flight was traditionally celebrated in two locations: Minsk National Airport and Makhachkala International Airport. In Minsk, the ceremony featured the Caucasus dance ensemble; the first passenger was given a gift from Belavia as well as a certificate for the transfer from the airline's partner.

In Makhachkala, the aircraft from Belarus was welcomed with the Lezginka dance and a water arch.

“The new flight will be in demand by passengers,” said Vladimir Barkun, Deputy Director General for Marketing and Foreign Economic Activity of Belavia. “We invite Belarusians to discover Dagestan and explore this amazing destination. The Minsk-Makhachkala flight is an opportunity to see picturesque mountains and the Caspian Sea, visit the ancient town of Derbent and the Sulak Canyon, the deepest in Europe. These inspiring sites will fill you with energy,” he remarked.

According to him, the first flight from Minsk was more than 70% full, the figure for subsequent flights is even higher, which suggests the popularity of the route.

Belavia announced the launch of the flight at the end of January so that  Belarusians would have enough time to read and learn about the tourism potential of Dagestan and consider this destination for summer vacations and  May holidays. Some flights are 100% booked,” noted Vladimir Barkun.
