Belarusian Yak-130 aircraft to test air-to-air rockets

MINSK, 5 February (BelTA) – Belarusian Yak-130 aircraft will test air-to-air rockets for the first time in the former air force exercise area Polessky in Gomel Oblast on 5 February, representatives of the Belarusian Defense Ministry told BelTA.

According to the source, Belarusian Air Force and Air Defense units continue mastering the combat and training aircraft Yak-130. “Today Belarusian pilots will launch guided air-to-air missiles using Yak-130 aircraft for the first time ever in the former exercise area Polessky. Such exercises allow preparing the flight crews for performing combat tasks as part of the air defense routine,” said representatives of the Defense Ministry.

Apart from that, small-range air defense missile systems such as Tor-M2 will fire live in Gomel Oblast to test the performance parameters specified by their manufacturers. Units of the 120th air defense missile brigade will take part in the live fire test. Air defense missile systems Tor-M2 are designed to launch rockets on the move.

Apart from that, air defense missile systems Stilet will be tested. They are designed to protect ground units, industrial and military installations from all types of modern and prospective air assault systems that fly at extremely low, low, and medium altitudes.
