Supreme State Council to consider draft 2016 Union State budget in late February

MINSK, 11 February (BelTA) – Plans have been made to consider the draft 2016 budget of the Belarus-Russian Union State at a session of the Union State Supreme State Council in late February, Viktor Shchetko, Deputy Chairman of the Budget and Finance Commission of the Parliamentary Assembly, Chairman of the Permanent Commission for Agricultural Policy of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly, said as took part in a meeting of the Budget and Finance Commission in Minsk on 11 February, BelTA has learned.

“In late 2015, the draft 2016 budget was submitted for approval by the Council of Ministers of the Union State. The document is still under consideration,” Viktor Shchetko said. He pointed out that the draft budget was not adopted in 2015 due to objective reasons.

The Belarusian MP said that the draft budget stipulates that Belarus' and Russia's contributions to the revenue part of the Union State budget will remain the same as in the previous years and will total RUB4.8 billion. Taking into account the leftover funds from the previous years, the budget will amount to RUB6.6 billion. Russia's contribution will be some RUB3.2 billion, while Belarus will provide a bit over RUB1.7 billion. The expenditure part of the draft budget is around RUB4.8 billion.

Viktor Shchetko noted that the Union State budget has been under interim management since 1 January 2016. The funds are spent on the implementation of all the planned programs, projects and events within the limits of one forth of the 2015 budget per one quarter of a year.

Most of the funds will be spent on 35 Union State programs and events in 2016.
