Sugar beet planting in Belarus almost 83% complete

 MINSK, 25 April (BelTA) – Sugar beet has been planted on 82.9% of the designated area in Belarus, BelTA learned from the Belarusian Agriculture and Food Ministry.

Spring crops were sown on 960,200 hectares, which is 40.6% of the plan. Early spring grain and leguminous crops (excluding maize, buckwheat and millet) were planted on an area of 548,800 hectares, which is 89.1% of the target.

Spring rapeseed was planted on an area of 16,300 hectares, which is 26.5% of the target. Sugar beet was planted on 85,600 hectares (82.9%), maize on 146,700 hectares (12%), potatoes on 1,920 hectares (11.5%), vegetables on 1,420 hectares (28.4%).

Annual grasses were planted on 113,000 hectares, which is 51.4% of the plan. Flax was sown on an area of 31,500 hectares, which is 63.5% of the plan.
