Russia's Kursk Oblast shows interest in further cooperation with BelAZ

MINSK, 7 December (BelTA) – Russia's Kursk Oblast is interested in developing further cooperation with the Belarusian supersize haul truck manufacturer BelAZ, BelTA learned from the company following the visit of the delegation from the Russian region.

The Russian guests got familiar with the manufacturing process of BelAZ equipment.

According to First Vice Governor of Kursk Oblast Alexander Zubarev, BelAZ haulers account for over 80% of the mining equipment used by the Kursk Oblast extractive companies. “We consider cooperation with the Belarusian plant as constructive. This is responsible partnership which benefits each party. We are interested in preserving and further developing the relations we have,” he said.

Alexander Kozub, Chief Engineer of Mikhailovsky GOK (one of the largest ore mining and processing facilities in Russia and the CIS) said that Metalloinvest Holding Company includes two ore mining and processing enterprises: Mikhailovsky and Lebedinsky. “Some 3-4 years ago Lebedinsky GOK started using 220-tonne BelAZ haulers. By 2021 Mikhailovsky GOK will have an opportunity to use haulers of bigger carrying capacity than 130- or 180-tonne trucks. At present, Mikhailovsky GOK uses 46 BelAZ haulers. We hope to continue our cooperation with the Belarusian plant,” he said.

Since the start of 2017 nine BelAZ haulers have been shipped to Kursk Oblast. There are also agreements on next year's deliveries.
