Plans to set up Belarusian-Russian lift installation joint venture in Tambov Oblast

MINSK, 26 August (BelTA) – Belarus and Russia intend to set up a joint venture in Tambov Oblast that will specialize in installing and assembling lifts. First Deputy Head of the Tambov Oblast Administration Alexander Ganov made the statement on 26 August before the third session of the working group on cooperation between Belarus and Russia's Tambov Oblast, BelTA has learned.

Alexander Ganov explained: “We have already visited Mogilevliftmash, one of the largest companies that makes lifts and sells them in Russia. The company offers a unique value for money. Providing quality maintenance and installation services in Russia is the key problem now. We have a maintenance company. Now it would be a good idea to set up a joint venture to provide lift installation services.”

In his words, the measure will allow greatly increasing sales of Mogilevliftmash lifts in the region. At present the Belarusian company has a 25-30% share of the local market. The figure can be doubled.

Speaking about other promising avenues of cooperation, the First Deputy Head of the Tambov Oblast Administration pointed out the large potential of the dairy industry. Tambov Oblast could buy Belarusian products and Belarusian specialists could take part in the construction of dairy farms in the Russian region.

Among other promising cooperation avenues Alexander Ganov mentioned utilities industry, fish farming, and the production sector. “We already tightly cooperate with Minsk Automobile Plant that sells buses powered by gas engine fuel. This year alone we have bought 18 vehicles for the oblast capital. We will continue this work and intend to buy vehicles every year,” he said.

Belarusian Tax and Duties Minister Sergei Nalivaiko is the chairman of the working group on behalf of Belarus. The official noted that the current trade turnover between Belarus and Tambov Oblast is below the potential of the regions and amounted to some $17 million in H1 2016. “Our main exports are petrochemical and agricultural products. We are interested in exporting more Belarusian products, this is why we are going to suggest to our colleagues from Tambov Oblast primarily the projects that include an export component,” he said.

A delegation of Russia's Tambov Oblast is in Belarus on 24-26 August on an official visit. The delegation includes representatives of the oblast administration and the business circles. Members of the delegation have already visited a number of Belarusian mechanical engineering enterprises, meat and dairy enterprises, animal husbandry enterprises as well as the Hi-Tech Park.
