Plans to set up Belarusian-Russian bakery in Russia's Nizhny Novgorod Oblast

GRODNO, 22 September (BelTA) – Plans to set up a Belarusian-Russian bakery in Russia's Nizhny Novgorod Oblast were voiced at the exhibition Euroregion Neman 2017 on 22 September, BelTA has learned.

Belarus' Smorgon District and Russia's Nizhny Novgorod Oblast intend to carry out two large projects. The first one is about setting up a joint bakery in Russia's Arzamas. The second project envisages the establishment of a joint mechanical engineering company.

“Grodno Oblast-Russia trade exceeded $1.5 billion in 2016. It will surge by over 20% in 2017. It is important that the relations are constantly developing. The Belarus-Russia Forum of Regions, where Grodno Oblast companies sealed over $60 million worth of deals with Russian partners, has shown it. Another example of ongoing cooperation is the exhibition-fair Euroregion Neman. This event has seen the most Russian delegations over the past years,” Russian Consul General in Brest Igor Konyakin remarked. He specified that Russian capital accounts for one-third of investment in Grodno Oblast. Russian investors view logistics, transport, and the regional transit potential as promising avenues of cooperation.

A number of important agreements were signed with Russian regions during the exhibition-fair and the investment forum entitled Grodno Oblast at the Crossroads of Borders. In particular, Grodno signed twinning agreements with the Russian towns of Ukhta and Tambov. The Republic of Komi and Grodno Oblast signed an agreement on trade and economic, science and technology, humanitarian and cultural cooperation.

The 19th nationwide universal exhibition Euroregion Neman 2017 will be running in Grodno on 22-23 September. The exhibition occupies over 1,200 km2. It has brought together more than 160 exhibitors, including representatives of 15 companies from Italy, China, Azerbaijan, Latvia and Poland. Taking part in the event are over 400 foreign guests, among them diplomats accredited in Belarus and delegations of other countries. This year the exhibition in Grodno has welcomed guests from Russia, China, Poland, Lithuania, Romania, Kazakhstan, and Azerbaijan.
