Minsk, St. Petersburg sign plan of cooperation by 2020

MINSK, 13 September (BelTA) - Minsk and St. Petersburg signed a plan of action to promote cooperation in trade, economy, science and culture by 2020, BelTA learned from the press service of the Minsk City Hall.

The ceremony took place during the Minsk City Days in St. Petersburg. The document was signed by St. Petersburg Governor Georgy Poltavchenko and Minsk Vice Mayor Fyodor Rymashevsky. The action plan provides for the exchange of experience in economy, environmental safety, traffic management, education, healthcare, culture, labor and social security, business promotion. The parties noted that cooperation between the cities has been vibrant in all areas. Many joint initiatives have been implemented or underway. For example, the meeting discussed the project to build the residential districts in St. Petersburg and Minsk.

The Belarusian capital showcased its trade, economic and investment potential at the business cooperation forum. Minsk companies took part in a fair of goods. Bellegprom Holding Company presented its collection of flax clothes.

Healthcare and education specialists held roundtable discussions and visited the relevant institutions. The delegation of the Minsk City Hall laid a wreath at the Piskaryovskoye Memorial Cemetery.

Other events included a photo exhibition “Minsk: Revived History” by the Minsk History Museum, friendlies in basketball, volleyball, table tennis, and competitions in rhythmic gymnastics.

Minsk City Days abroad has become an annual tradition. In 2013-2017 Minsk Days were held in Moscow, Riga, Milan (during Expo 2015), St. Petersburg, Belgrade, Omsk, and Moscow.
