Inflation in Belarus in 2016 at 11.8%

MINSK, 10 January (BelTA) – In 2016 the index of consumer prices for goods and services totaled 111.8% as against 2015, representatives of the National Statistics Committee of Belarus told BelTA.

In 2016 food prices rose by 10.4% in comparison with 2015. Non-food prices went up by 9.4% while prices for services rose by 19.7%.

In December 2016 the index of consumer prices for goods and services stood at 100.5% as against November 2016 and 110.6% as against December 2015.

In December 2016 the basic index of consumer prices that disregards changes of prices for the commodities and services that are affected by administrative and seasonal factors reached 100.1% as against November 2016 and 110% as against December 2015.

In December 2016 food prices went up by 1% from November 2016 and by 10.4% from December 2015. Prices for non-foods dropped by 0.6% from November 2016 and rose by 6.8% from December 2015. The index of prices for and tariffs on paid services totaled 101.1% as against November 2016 and 117.6% as against December 2015.
