Belarus, Mongolia to work out acceptable export finance schemes

MINSK, 4 June (BelTA) – Belarus and Mongolia have agreed to pay close attention to economic cooperation and the introduction of progressive mutually acceptable schemes for export finance for the sake of implementing specific joint projects. The news was released by Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs Vladimir Makei after meeting with his Mongolian counterpart Damdin Tsogtbaatar, BelTA has learned.

After the meeting Vladimir Makei told media: “We are pleased with a noticeable invigoration of relations with Mongolia. Contacts have been resumed at the top and high levels. The legal base has been expanded. Trade and economic cooperation grows stronger. Cooperation has begun in agriculture, science and technology. Bilateral ties have been restored in education and sport.”

According to Vladimir Makei, the negotiations were productive. Topical aspects of Belarus-Mongolia bilateral and multilateral cooperation were discussed. An agreement was reached to consider the exchange of top and high-level visits and to fill the visits with practical content.

Vladimir Makei said: “Belarus and Mongolia have similar views on foreign policy matters and constructively cooperate in international organizations. We intend to continue this productive interaction and take it to a more systemic level.”

The sides agreed to step up mutual contacts, in particular, with regular consultations between the two ministries of foreign affairs about priority matters of the bilateral relations. The next round of the consultations will take place in Minsk this year.

Vladimir Makei pointed out the importance of expanding the bilateral legal base. In particular, a package of interstate agreements was signed on 4 June. The documents take care of cooperation in legal affairs and enable direct interaction between law enforcement agencies of Belarus and Mongolia. Work to expand the legal base will continue, assured Vladimir Makei.

The minister of foreign affairs also mentioned the importance of Mongolia agreements on economic cooperation with Russia and China for Belarus.
