Belarus' agricultural industry expected to increase sales profitability to 10% in 2016-2020

MINSK, 27 June (BelTA) – Increasing sales profitability to 10% in agriculture within five years is a feasible task, Belarus' Deputy Prime Minister Mikhail Rusy said in an interview with the ONT TV Channel, BelTA has learned.

“The profitability is approximately 6% today. Therefore the task is reachable,” he noted.

According to him, in agriculture two components influence the labor productivity: new technology and full chain of technology. “This requires personnel. With new energy-efficient equipment we have reduced fuel consumption almost two times as against 1996while increasing gross production,” Mikhail Rusy noted.

He also noted that there are still some enterprises consistently in the red. “We have to work with them. Some farms have acquired new technologies but still fail to ensure the full chain of technology. One farm crops 50 centners per hectare, another farm which is located nearby harvests as little as 20 centners per hectare,” the Vice Premier noted.
