Domracheva’s daughter 5th in Snow Sniper sprint

MINSK, 13 February (BelTA) - The first winners have been crowned at the final leg of the Snow Sniper national biathlon competition in Raubichi, BelTA has learned.

Tournament finalists are competing for top honors in three age categories. The competition program kicked off with sprint races among the youngest group (born 2015-2016). Twenty-eight biathletes took to the start in both the boys’ and girls’ events (four from each region and Minsk), covering three laps of 600 meters with two shooting stages. The medalists in these races were the following young athletes:

Boys 9-10 years old:

Timofei Panov (Vitebsk Oblast)
Kirill Dubyago (Minsk Oblast)
Nikita Simtsov (Vitebsk Oblast)Girls 9-10 years old:

Yana Tyabut (Vitebsk Oblast)
Varvara Savenok (Gomel Oblast)
Sofya Yarmolchik (Brest Oblast)
Xenia Bjørndalen, daughter of Darya Domracheva and Ole Einar Bjørndalen, shot clean and finished in fifth place. Later on Friday, winners and medalists in the sprint races will be determined for the middle (born 2013-2014) and senior (born 2011-2012) age categories.
