Belarus off to winning start at 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup qualifiers

MINSK, 7 March (BelTA) – The Belarusian women’s national football team has started its campaign in the qualifying tournament for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup with a victory, BelTA has learned.

During the match in Astana on 7 March, Vyacheslav Grigorov’s squad edged out the Kazakhstan national team 1-0. Hanna Siniauskaya netted the decisive goal in the 71st minute to secure the victory. Earlier, in the opening fixture of qualifying Group C6, Kazakhstan had demolished Armenia 3-0 at home.

Schedule of the Belarusian team’s remaining matches: 14 April – Armenia vs Belarus, 18 April – Belarus vs Kazakhstan, 9 June – Belarus vs Armenia.

The European qualifying matches will conclude in December 2026. Eleven teams from Europe will advance to the final stage of the world championship. Direct spots will go to the winners of the four League A groups, while seven more slots will be contested in playoff matches, which will feature the best teams from Leagues B and C.

The final tournament of the tenth Women’s World Cup will be held in Brazil from 24 June to 25 August 2027. Thirty-two teams from all continents will compete for the championship title. The U.S. women have become world champions four times, Germany has two titles, while Spain, Norway, and Japan have won once each.
