VITEBSK DISTRICT, 23 January (BelTA) - The specific feature of the current inspection of the Armed Forces is that the Belarusian president is personally putting military units on combat alert, State Secretary of the Security Council of Belarus Aleksandr Volfovich told the media, BelTA has learned.
“The specific feature [of the ongoing inspection of the Armed Forces] is that the president is personally putting military units on combat alert, bypassing the Defense Ministry and the General Staff,” said Aleksandr Volfovich.

“The specific feature [of the ongoing inspection of the Armed Forces] is that the president is personally putting military units on combat alert, bypassing the Defense Ministry and the General Staff,” said Aleksandr Volfovich.

According to the state secretary of the Security Council, the inspection will evaluate how servicemen handle the sudden alert and mobilization of military units. “In principle, every person in uniform must be prepared to act at any time of day or night - that is what the president demands of us,” he pointed out.
Aleksandr Volfovich emphasized that the head of state is personally overseeing the progress of the inspection: “I have just reported on the arrival of a monitoring group from the State Secretariat at a brigade, on how prepared the brigade was to receive its task, and what it is currently engaged in. The president is constantly monitoring [the progress of the inspection].”
“The plan for the inspection has been approved. The president is fully aware of the entire situation as the inspection proceeds. The president’s arrival may be unexpected for everyone - both for those conducting the inspection and for those being assessed,” Aleksandr Volfovich said.
