MINSK, 19 January (BelTA) – Artem Tsuran, Chairman of the Minsk City Council of Deputies, spoke to journalists about the procedure and objectives of a new one-time payment for Minsk mothers aged 18 to 25, BelTA reports.
Artem Tsuran stated that the Minsk City Council’s decision to provide additional financial support to young mothers who give birth within that age bracket is a significant step. “In this way, the city is demonstrating its commitment to encouraging young people to have children earlier,” he emphasized. He noted that an analysis of data from the past two years indicates a slight decline in births among mothers aged 18 to 25.
The payments will be processed through local social service centers and social protection departments. Applicants will need to submit a set of documents, including an application, the child’s birth certificate, proof of Minsk residency, and information on family composition. “The main requirements are age and proof of Minsk residency. We are showing our mothers that we are ready to help, that the city is doing everything possible to make them feel secure in caring for their children. This is one of many benefits available to young families upon the birth of a child,” Artem Tsuran said.
He added that the decision was made in support of the presidential decree designating 2026 as the Year of the Belarusian Woman.
