MINSK, 29 October (BelTA) – A protocol to amend the Belarus-Türkiye agreement on mutual visa exemption for international transport operators was ratified at the fourth session of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus of the eighth convocation, BelTA has learned.
The protocol to amend the agreement was signed in Minsk on 21 July 2025.
Aleksandr Goroshkin, member of the Standing Commission of the Council of the Republic on International Affairs and National Security, noted that the amendments to the existing agreement between Belarus and Türkiye were made due to practical considerations. “This concerns work visas for freight and passenger carriers currently operating both in Türkiye and Belarus. Under the existing agreement, the long-haul drivers are allowed to stay in the country for up to 30 days without a visa. But in practice, it now takes 35-40 days to deliver cargo. Therefore, to facilitate these operations, it has been proposed to extend this period from 30 to 90 days,” he explained.
It is expected that, in addition to simplifying travel for citizens of both countries engaged in international transport, this change will have a positive impact on the development of Belarus-Türkiye trade and economic cooperation and on the growth of transport services.
