Over 115,000 deposit accounts opened under Belarus' family capital program

MINSK, 11 July (BelTA) – As of 1 July 2022, a total of 115,253 deposit accounts were opened for large families under Belarus' family capital program, including 82,500 deposit accounts at the total amount of $825 million and 32,700 deposit accounts at the total amount of Br767 million, BelTA learned from the Belarusian Labor and Social Security Ministry.

As of 1 July 2022, 57,169 families applied for permission to use family capital ahead of schedule. Of them, 49,350 applied to use the money to improve housing conditions, 3,098 to pay for education, 4,719 to receive healthcare services, and two to buy health products for disabled people.

The ministry granted permission to use family capital earlier to 54,849 applicants. Most of such applicants are from Brest Oblast (11,641). Then goes Minsk Oblast with 9,409 families, Gomel Oblast with 8,900, the city of Minsk with 7,676 and Grodno Oblast with 6,360. Mogilev Oblast and Vitebsk Oblast round out the list with 5,512 and 5,351 applicants respectively.

The Labor and Social Security Ministry noted that the family capital program applies to families raising three and more children. From 1 January 2022 the family capital equals Br25,995.
